What it costs from an RG42 addressThe amount you will need to pay for the service is identical regardless of where you are located in Berkshire. So for example, the cost of a recovery from a card or a memory stick (£250 plus VAT), one hard disk (£300), CCTV, DVR or NVR (£400), a second disk, a NAS, a RAID or a server (from £500) and virtual machine images or forensic instructions (£800) is the same as from anywhere else. The diagnosis is free and the figure is put in writing a single time. In most cases you only pay if we recover your data. A field laptop full of trial data has stopped. Can we still trust the dates afterwards?

The recovery will come back as a file-by-file check of what files were able to open, and those that could not open, allowing you to know which of the files/data series are still intact. Nothing is written to the original disk. First, the disk image is created, and then all work is performed from the disk image. The yard machine lives in an outbuilding with poor power. Is that what did it?

The answer is frequently yes. Repeated dirty shut-downs have a negative impact on your file system long before they damage the hard drives themselves. In addition to these effects, a shed will add additional factors to potentially shorten the life of your equipment including dust, dampness and excessive heat. So once it won't turn on, quit trying to get it to turn on again. Another boot up on a failing drive will rarely increase the chances of successful recovery and will often decrease those chances. Pull the plug from the wall, pull the disk, get a quote first, and allow for proper reading of the disk.

We have a four-disk array. Does the whole box come to you?

The answer is no. Servers and RAIDs need to be stripped. Each disk needs to be pulled, individually marked by bay number and wrapped on its own so no two touch. If possible, pull all disks from a NAS device as well, and mark each disk in the same manner. If you can't pull individual disks, you may need to send the entire unit to us. External drives travel within their own enclosure and include their cable and power supply. First, contact us for a quote by either phone or using our online quote request form.
